Strollers Cafe - New Years Day Dip

Madness? No - Fundraising for two local Charities.

Starting the New Year with a very cold splash for charity - 2006

 

What a great way to start the New Year and helping to support two local charities at the same time.

The people taking part meet at the Strollers Cafe on the beach between Sandown & Shanklin and prep themselves for the cold winter waves.

Three crew members from Sandown & Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat supervised safety / first aid cover and also took part in the dip itself.

Organiser Bob Jackson, of the Strollers Cafe has been behind the fund raising idea now since 2002, the money raised gets split between Sandown & Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat and the IW Youth bowling club.

The charity swim has become an annual event after the Strollers Cafe opened four years ago.

People come to cheer on or watch in dismay.

2006 pulled a big crowed on the revetment and all were there to watch the New Years Dip.
