A new lifeboat station
Sandown & Shanklin's Sandy beaches are renowned for safe
bathing and high water quality, and most of the time are enjoyed without
incident.
However, it is comforting to know that help is at hand, should something
go wrong.
Sandown & Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat is one of three independent
lifeboats on the Island and it is crewed by a dedicated team of
volunteers.
The only funding the station receives is in the form of some support
grants from the Solent Sea Rescue Organisation, and so the service
relies on contributions from the local community and volunteers to
maintain the running of the service.
Sandown & Shanklin Inshore lifeboat is aiming to raise £180,000 to rebuild
the lifeboat station, and there are many ways you can help.
