Sandown & Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat was holding off in the St Catherine’s area, Niton, when HM Solent Coastguard tasked SSILB to a yellow 8 Meter rib called 'Golden Toad' just off Ventnor, suffering with Engine failure and was in need of assistance.

Bembridge RNLI All Weather Lifeboat then called up Solent Coastguard to inform them that they were making way to St Catherine’s from their current location, that they could pass by the 'Golden Toad' to make sure that the RIB did not get into further defectives and SCG concurred.

SSILB arrived on scene to find Bembridge AWL mechanic on-board the 'Golden Toad' looking over the engine problem, the engine would not start, so Bembridge AWL handed the 'Golden Toad' over to SSILB to tow into Ventnor Haven and Bembridge AWL made their way to St Catherine’s.

SSILB then towed the 'Golden Toad' to Ventnor moorings, as it was low tide, there was little water in Ventnor Haven to tow the 'Golden Toad' into and it's crew were taken a shore to Ventnor Haven instead to await repairs.

Sandown & Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat was paged by Solent Coastguard, to 2 persons in the water and could not right their catamaran.

One person had drifted off from the catamaran and was heading toward Culver Cliffs, Coastguard rescue helicopter 'MU' was also tasked just before SSILB to picked both of them up and then landed them at Yaverland.

Both were well, but shook up by the incident and were checked over by HM Coastguard Ventnor.

SSILB towed their vessel round to White cliff Bay, as the wind was lifting the damaged sail, spinnaker which blocked the view of the SSILB crew member who was left onboard the catamaran to helm (RC) and was not a good option to take it back to Yaverland.

The vessel was then beached at White cliff Bay, SSILB awaited the owners to arrive and collect the vessel.

Owners met us there and SSILB assisted the recovery.

The owners are going to take it from there and make arrangements for it to be taken back to Yaverland.

SSILB returned to station and back on operational pager.
