Sandown Regatta 2008

SSILB have purchased a very nice bit of kit, a great water proof camera, which we tried to test at the Shanklin Regatta (2008), but the batteries that came with the camera let us down, so we purchased new branded batteries and had to carry over the test to Sandown Regatta three days later.

The following footage is of that test.

The All Weather Lifeboat in the footage is that of the RNLI, Bembridge ALB (Max Aitken  III), which also carried out the display with SSILB and the Coastguard Helo during the Sandown Regatta.

The GoPro Hero 3MP camera is mounted on the mast of the Atlantic 21, perfect location to view the action, this is the very same location that is used by the BBC in it's program 'Seaside Rescue' that follows the RNLI & HM Coastguard in and around the south coast.

The test was to see how much vibration the camera could take, the coxswain (Mark Birch) of SSILB in the footage, entertains the crowds, by jumping the stern wave from Max Aitken III, which really tested the GoPro camera out and is quality viewing for the final result for web footage.

SSILB Crew in footage:

Coxswain - Mark Birch
Crew - Mark Adams-Rose
Crew - Shev Adams-Rose
Crew - Richard Chantler (Onboard Max Aitken III)
